Madi & Alex | Glencoe Adventure Session

I will never take this life, the people we get to meet and the places we get to go for granted.

Now, I will rave to the grave about all the people we get to meet through doing what we do and that’s not going to stop here. Madi reached out to me a while ago through Instagram as on the 2nd August Madi & Alex were supposed to be married but sadly due to COVID they've had to postpone. As Madi currently lives in the US and Alex lives in the UK she somehow pulled off the biggest surprise ever.

She hopped on a plane and flew over to the UK and turned up on Alex’s doorstep so they could spend a couple of weeks together as this should have been their wedding. They celebrated their ‘would be wedding day’ in style before packing their bags and going on an adventure. Madi had planned for them to stay in Fort William for a couple of days so they could explore the highlands (and they managed to get more into their couple of days than Nathan & I have done in 4 years ahahah). Even just after spending a short amount of time with these two you can just tell that God made them for each other. They just radiate love, joy, hope, peace and adventure and it honestly was an honour to be around them.

We didn’t set a time for how long we’d spend together and the day went by in the blink of an eye. The saying ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ has never felt more true!

I had been frantically checking the weather and every time I checked there were rain warnings for flash flooding and thunderstorms so we came fully prepared for a wet and miserable (yet romantic) day. We had blankets and a flask of coffee at the ready but the Lord pulled through and gave us the hottest weather I have encountered in Scotland so far. It was a whole other kind of beautiful and for the first time ever on a Glencoe adventure - we didn’t need the coffee!

We started the day out at the Three Sisters. We wandered, took it in turns shooting each other, paddled in the water, exchanged proposal stories, chatted about life, listened to Taylor Swift (we’re convinced she wrote Folklore pre-empting this shoot) and spent about 90% of the time with our jaws dropped at just how beautiful it was. Nathan & I have been to Glencoe in possibly every form of weather. We’ve been when it has been the worst rain ever, thunderstorms, snow storms, sunset after a thunderstorm, cloudy days - you name it. But there was something about the Sun being high in the sky, the mountains being a shade of blue you can only imagine Utah to have and the valleys being the freshest green you’ve ever seen that just blew us all away.

We then made a couple of stops along the way from the Three Sisters to Loch Etive where they braved the midges and went for a dip.

We are just so grateful to have been able to spend time getting to know these two wonderful humans in a place we hold so dear and we can’t wait to hang out with them again soon.

Madi & Alex also captured us to celebrate our first year of marriage and they are both such an incredibly talented Photo + Video team so you definitely need to check them out too - www.madimyerscook.com
