PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION
You’re investing in photos that will become core memories. Photos you’ll likely print and have on your walls in your home. Photos that truly encapsulate who you are and the adventure you’re on. So it’s important we work as a team to capture this season of your lives in the best way we possibly can.
EXPECTATIONS
How We Work
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.
-
It is our goal to tell YOUR story.
It is so easy to build Pinterest boards and inspiration sheets these days but with that comes an easy expectation that things can be re-created and re-produced and that can be super damaging.
If you do have inspiration you are absolutely more than welcome to share that with us but with the understanding that we will use it as loose inspiration only and that we will be focusing on capturing this experience together as authentically and creatively as possible. Because it is you in these photos and in 20 years time we want you to see YOU in the chapter of your life you were currently at in these photos and to feel the authenticity of them.
-
We want our work to speak truth.
We don’t edit your appearance in any way because we are so passionate about promoting self love and to battle just how toxic the media is.
If your hair blows in the wind then let’s embrace that.

THE WHAT TO WEAR GUIDE
In this section we’ll go over a couple of things to think about for when you’re deciding what to wear in order for you to get the best results whilst still completely encapsulating who you are.
Think about the season and location for when and where your session will be taking place.
LOCATION
-
The Isle of Skye is outrageously beautiful and the vast variation of backdrops always makes an adventure session a real adventure.
That being said because there is so much variation you want to make sure your outfits fit well with the multiple different backdrops. For Skye we’d definitely recommend having a second outfit to also give a bit of variation and to stick to neutral tones and ideally no patterns.
We often find the best colours to stick to are whites, beiges, browns and blacks.
For Skye it is also worth noting the weather changes every 5 minutes so definitely worth having a backup / a towel and additional layers just incase.
-
Glencoe is and always will be the perfect setting for floaty and loose fitting clothing.
We tend to find that Glencoe often gives us the perfect amount of wind - enough to make your photos epic but not too much that you feel you’ll be blown away.
Glencoe is where we find the colours change the most throughout the seasons so thinking about the colours the mountains will be during the season you’re being photographed will be a good thing to think about when you’re deciding what to wear.
In the Summer months Glencoe is quite an intense shade of green so we’d highly recommend sticking to neutral light colours / whites so you’re able to stand out from the background without feeling distracting. Alternatively if you’re wanting a pop of colour the flowers in Glencoe in summer are shades of yellows and purples which definitely compliments the scenery.
In Autumn & Spring the colours in Glencoe are shifting meaning there’s lots of browns and greens so we’d definitely recommend avoiding shades of browns and greens during Autumn and Spring and instead go for simple, light neutral tones.
In Winter Glencoe is all kinds of shades of browns and golds. For us winter in Glencoe is our favourite season because the colours really are something so special. In winter we’d recommend going for earthy tones: Greens, Blacks, Whites maybe a pop of red.

When you’re being photographed by water you ideally want to avoid wearing anything blue or purple if possible.
We often find that in photographs water ends up looking a grey / brown colour because of the clouds but on the rare occasion the water comes out with a hue of blue it can still get lost if the subject is wearing blue.
-
For Beachy sessions we highly recommend sticking to light neutral colours and blacks - we often find that anything else thrown into the mix can become very distracting.
SEASON
-
In Spring time the weather can be quite temperamental meaning it could be gloriously sunny and warm one moment and absolutely freezing (and maybe even snowing) the next.
So it’s important to properly prepare. Bring an extra coat for warmth and ideally one you’re happy to be photographed in if it is absolutely freezing.
Colour wise we’d recommend sticking to block light tones as during Spring the colours in the landscapes are usually transitioning from shades of brown to shades of green which can be quite distracting in itself. Wearing block colours will help you to stand out from the landscape and not blend in!
-
In Summer time Scotland can actually get pretty warm. So it’s important to prepare for that.
We would always recommend wearing something you can easily layer up or down depending on how hot / cold it is throughout the duration of our time together. This also allows for a bit of variation in your gallery if you don’t plan on doing a full outfit change!
It’s also important to remember some suncream and midge spray throughout the summer months!
Colour wise we recommend sticking to neutral tones throughout summer as it’s quite likely the backdrops around you will be heavily saturated and quite intense so having you wear softer tones allows for overall image to feel much more balanced.

Autumn is when (for us at least) Scotland
