Glencoe Storytelling Mentorship Workshop

Friday 22nd November & Saturday 23rd November 2024

We are so excited to bring to you our third In Person Group Storytelling Mentorship Session. Taking place on Friday the 22nd November 2024 & Saturday the 23rd November 2024 In the ever beautiful Glencoe.

This mentorship experience is going to be structured a little different to our previous ones in that we will be doing three individual shoots focused on three separate areas: Detail, Composition & Movement. Over the years we have found that these three core elements when tied together allow us to tell the most beautiful stories in the most intentional way. We’re really excited to dive deep into these three elements and, learning new skills and setting you off on your way with a new perspective on storytelling.

Whilst you will take away from this experience lots of beautiful photographs for your portfolio the purpose of this workshop is not to build content for your portfolio but instead to help train your eye so you can learn new ways to photograph from different perspectives.

We’d be truly honoured to have you join us and we cannot wait to work with you in an expansive way.

We will be capping this event at a maximum of 10 attendees per shoot.

Tickets cost £950 for all three shoots OR £400 per shoot.

Once you have preliminarily booked your spot below & filled out the information we’ll be sending you a contract and invoice via email. The invoice of the total amount can be paid in full OR a payment plan can be arranged also just as long as the full cost is paid by 2 weeks before..

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE

The areas of Glencoe we’ll be shooting in are pretty accessible. The three sisters does have a very very short steep descent into the valley so that is just something to note. In terms of what to bring / prepare for sensible footwear is a must as is a good waterproof coat.

This Group Storytelling Mentorship does NOT include any transport, food or accommodation and all attendees will be expected to make their own way to and around Glencoe - we will send over recommendations of accommodation and can connect you with other attendees should you wish to car pool.

The couples will NOT be in bridal - our choice for this is to keep the experience feeling as authentic as possible and to really strip back any distractions - wedding attire does play a roll in how you view the story you’re telling and can be distracting you from the real story that is lying in-front of you.

Rough Itinerary:

Friday 22nd November 2024

SHOOT 1 ~ Sunset // Cass & Rhiannon // Detail

As we focus on detail with Cass & Rhiannon we’ll be exploring the importance of Holding Space, B-Roll, Close ups and all those finer elements that really encompass who they are & how they love.

Saturday 23rd November 2024

SHOOT 2 ~ Sunrise // Kat & Craig // Composition

We’ll be drawing focus on composition as we work with Kat & Craig and exploring how we can use the landscape to tell a story, we’ll look at leading lines and how we can be positioning our couples within our frame to really maximise on the impact our images are able to achieve and then we’ll also look more into lighting and how we can be composing our couples to really work with the lighting.

SHOOT 3 ~ Sunset // Kate & Ben // Movement

And finally we’ll focus all on Movement as we photograph Kate & Ben and really dive deep into multiple different ways to incorporate movement into our sessions so as to tell a diverse of a story as possible. We’ll be looking at how we can use Slow Shutters, invite movement with our couples but also how we can be moving as the photographer.

Meet Cass & Rhiannon

Cass (She / Her) & Rhiannon (She / Her)

Cass and Rhiannon met online one year ago and instantly connected. They fell in love over cozy nights in, big bowls of pasta and loudly laughing at life. You’ll find them playing with Finn (cass’ 5 year old son) on their daily park adventures as their dog Otto rolls in the grass beside them. Their dream is to one day have a big patch of land where both boys can run wild and play.

Meet Kat & Craig

Kat (She / Her) & Craig (He / Him)

We met on the last day of 2019, when I invited a mutual friend to a NYE party and told him to bring his Scottish roommate that I had heard so much about. Turns out Craig & I had been living in the same apartment building for about 6 months and had never crossed paths until that night. Needless to say that meeting him changed everything, we had a whirlwind romance as Craig had booked his flight home to Scotland just 8 weeks later. So we squeezed as many dates & adventures into those 8 weeks and inevitably fell in love, and decided we couldn’t live without each other. Craig flew home, and I was meant to follow just a few weeks later once I had quit my job and packed up my apartment . Yet life had other plans and Covid shut down Australia on a strict no travel lockdown. Six months of endless calls, FaceTimes, and huge decisions. We decided, while on opposite ends of the earth, that we never wanted to be stuck apart again, and began our plans to elope. I got my visa, moved to Scotland, we quarantined together, got engaged, eloped in Glencoe, then fell pregnant with our first son a few months later & fell pregnant with our second son when our eldest was just one year old.

Now, we’ve been married four years this coming October! We have two perfect little boys aged 1 & 3 who keep our hands busy and our belly’s laughing (constantly).

Craig and I love anything to do with nature, being outside is our safe place, we enjoy hill walks, “fairy hunts” with our toddlers, exploring castles and gardens, finding history and playing make believe anywhere we can. We love to dream, and manifest together and we’re constantly making plans for the future whilst still living in the now. He’s my best friend the love of my life (in this lifetime and in every other)

Meet Kate & Ben

Kate (She / Her) & Ben (He / Him)

Ben and I have been together for 11 years! We met when we were 19/20 by a happy accident at work. I took an overtime shift at Waitrose, in a different department, and Ben was working that day. I needed help and and asked him, and it was love at first sight (which sounds cheesy but it was). Turns out we'd gone to the same high school but never met somehow! We love to camp, hike, and travel the world in our little van called Eric. We took a "gap year" at age 28 to travel the world and since returning home both started our businesses. Me as a photographer and him as a gardener. We're both Edinburgh born and bred and love it here in Scotland!)

Accommodation is not included but below is a list of some recommendations of where to stay in Glencoe.

  • Corran Bunkhouse - https://www.corranbunkhouse.co.uk/accommodation/ - Nathan & I will be staying here. More of a glorified hostel - we absolutely love it here!

  • Premier inn - Fort William - Super simple and convenient.

  • Travel Lodge - Fort William - Super simple and convenient

There’s also lots of places available on airbnb & booking.com if you’re looking for something a bit nicer but these are our go to’s when we know we won’t be spending much time inside.
