Snow Day

The longer we’re battling Covid-19 the more I’m coming to realise how important it is to make the most of every day and to make memories anyway.

I don’t want to look back on the years 2020 & 2021 and feel as though nothing happened, or that I achieved nothing, or that I don’t have anything positive to remember from those years. So I'm pushing myself to take more photos of our everyday activities and to remember these moments.

I’m sure one day when we have children we’ll look back fondly on these slower seasons of life and we’ll want these photos as memories.

So here is the story of the day it snowed and didn’t stop snowing for a couple of days.

At 4am we peered out the window to see nothing but a vast, fluffy, untouched pillow of snow. So we got up and dressed, grabbed our camera and headed out for sunrise. Being the first to make tracks in the snow. My Dr Martens being completely submerged. A gentle breeze. And being with my love. I’d not felt this alive in a long time.

The depth and somehow calmness of the snow reminded me of the day I landed in Brno, Czech Republic. I had moved there for a semester and when I got off the plane it was -11 Degrees Celsius but I didn’t feel the cold. It was so calm, so normal and it somehow felt like home.
